July 30, 2004
Dear Members,
Due to popular demand, The Copper Club Board has voted in favor of changing the date of the annual Copper Club Dinner back to the traditional month of February. The first Dinner of the Copper Club was held in February of 1944. The February tradition continued until 2002 when the tragedy of September 11 disrupted all schedules.
The Copper Club Events Committee and Directors have rescheduled our 2005 agenda as follows:
On February 15, 2005 our Annual Dinner will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria hotel, 301 Park Avenue & 50th. Street
On June 8, 2005 our spring Buffet and Cocktail Reception will again be held at The Tavern on the Green, Central Park West & 67th. Street.
Additional information and reservation forms will be mailed to members and posted on this Web site 2-3 months prior to the event.
This will be the Copper Club's 60th Anniversary. We have an exciting agenda planned for and around the February dinner. This has been a momentous period for the global economy, copper consumption, trading volumes and prices. The opportunities to meet our friends at these events will be more significant than ever.
As always, we look forward to sharing our upcoming events with you and your guests and anticipate two very enjoyable evenings.
Mr. Andronico Luksic, Chairman of Antofagasta, PLC and Mr. Arthur R. Miele, Senior Vice President of Phelps Dodge Corp. were named Copper Men of the Year. Presentations of our Ankh Awards were made to them at our annual dinner on June 18, 2003 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. See biographies for both recipients under ANKH AWARDS.
